Yael Cidon, DVM
Dr. Yael Cidon is the founder of PetVets Animal Hospital. She graduated from Purdue University of Veterinary Medicine in 1992 with High Honors.
Before the inception of PetVets Animal Hospital in 1997, Dr. Cidon was an associate and emergency clinician at a 24-hour emergency hospital in the northwest suburbs.
She has been a pet parent since 1985 for both dogs and cats. Currently, there is only one pet in her household: A senior American Cocker Spaniel named Mia. Since both of Dr. Cidon’s children are currently in college, Mia is currently the only “child” at home.
Kara Kelleher-Brennan, DVM CCRP
Kara Kelleher-Brennan DVM, CCRP received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1998 and completed her certification in Canine Physical Rehabilitation from the University of Tennessee in 2012. She joined the PetVets team in 2016.
Dr. K loves working with the rehab patients. She believes in treating each patient with kindness, respect, and compassion. Young or old, small or big, recovering from surgery, or living with chronic disease; each rehab patient faces their own unique challenges. Dr. Kelleher-Brennan strives to help her patients and their families achieve their goals.
Richa Sachdev, DVM
Dr. Richa Sachdev was raised in the southern suburbs of Illinois. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston for her undergrad and then obtained her veterinary degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts. She left the island in 2007 to do her clinical year at University of Illinois, and graduated with her DVM in 2008. She has a strong interest in dermatology, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. She also works with Dr. Kelleher to provide acupuncture for those patients with arthritis and neuropathies.
She currently lives in Chicago with her husband, two sons, and two derpy rescue pitbulls. In her spare time she enjoys reading, traveling, trying all the different cuisines Chicago has to offer, and spending time with her family.
Meg Barron, DVM
Dr. Meg Barron is originally from the western suburbs of Chicago. She received both her undergraduate degree and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She graduated from veterinary school in 2017 and has been a part of the PetVets family ever since! Her special interests include geriatric medicine, end of life/hospice care, and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Barron lives in the city with her dogs Oskee, an 11 year old goofy yellow lab mix, and Elsie, a 15 year old surprisingly devious black lab mix. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, camping and hiking, and exploring restaurants around the city.
Ashley Forti, BVMS, MRCVS
Dr. Forti grew up in Crystal Lake, IL. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science: Pre-Veterinary Medicine from the University of New Hampshire. She then attended veterinary school in Scotland, UK, graduating with Commendation from the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (Class of 2015).
While in veterinary school, she spent 2 years as the President of the Glasgow University Veterinary Zoological Society, obtained the VBMA Silver Business Certificate, and was captain of the Glasgow Vet Women’s Soccer (“Football”) Team. Upon graduation from vet school, Dr. Forti continued her veterinary education by completing a 1-year rotating small animal internship at Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Services in Rochester, New York. There she gained advanced training while rotating through several different specialty services.
Dr. Forti’s professional interests include surgery and pain management.
Dr. Forti has a young Russian tortoise named Boris that she rescued while in vet school. Both Boris and her British husband Mike packed up their bags and made the big move from the UK to Chicago. They most recently rescued a small mixed breed dog named Dennis. In her free time, Dr. Forti enjoys exploring the city on bike, watching and playing soccer, boating, traveling, vegan cooking, and cheering on her Chicago Bears!
Arian Santiago, DVM
Dr. Arian Santiago was raised in the western suburbs and currently lives in Chicago. Since childhood she has loved animals and grew up with hamsters, birds, fish, mice a rabbit and dogs. She received a bachelors degree in Animal Science: Pre-Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois. She then continued on to attend veterinary school at the University of Illinois, graduating in 2007. While in veterinary school she was able to complete rotations at the Brookfield Zoo, Shedd Aquarium and worked with birds of prey at a wildlife center in Virginia. Since graduating she has worked in both small animal and exotics clinics. She loves all aspects of being a veterinarian, but has a special interest in dentistry, senior care and is excited to be incorporating ultrasound into patient care.
In her spare time, she loves traveling, reading, exploring new restaurants and experiencing all the art, diverse neighborhoods and music that the windy city has to offer. She joined the PetVets Animal Hospital team in 2019 and is excited to be practicing with such a dedicated and caring group.
